The flipped classroom!
One of the latest edutrends that is taking the education scene by storm is the Flipped Classroom. My immediate response was to put the Flipped classroom into place. All lectures will now be online which allows for students to listen and absorb the material at their own pace. Julie Schell made this video which explains the flipped classroom in 60 seconds or less.
The Vernier Advantage
I have been using Vernier Technology in my classrooms since 2005. Each year I attend training sessions and add equipment to the laboratory exercises to allow students a real experience.
Inquiry based learning.
Each module students work together to solve problems and learn team building skills. POGIL is a classroom and laboratory technique that seeks to simultaneously teach content and key process skills such as the ability to think analytically and work effectively as part of a collaborative team. My goal is to be as proficient as the teacher featured in the video with the POGIL process.
Voicethread is a Web 2.0 tool for my lectures. Students can interact with the lecture giving a student the right multi-sensory tool to aid in student learning.
Tests are published online and are graded automatically. I can override grading when necessary. Online testing allows for paperless timed evaluations.
